Terms of Service
Last updated: October 6, 2026
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using DataCrawly at datacrawly.io (the "Services"). The Services are operated by Suprematic Technologies Lda, a company registered in Portugal under NIF PT518330150, with its registered office at Rua Raul Duarte Gomes, 2, Bloco A, RC Esq, 2655-320 Ericeira, Portugal. By creating an account, buying credits, installing the browser extension, calling the API or otherwise using the Services you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
DataCrawly maintains an index of publicly accessible websites: the technologies they run and their versions, hosting and DNS, site categories, and the contact channels businesses publish for themselves on their own pages. The index is built by our crawler, described at datacrawly.io/bot. Observations from our browser extension are not added to the index.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms are a binding agreement between you ("you", "User") and Suprematic Technologies Lda, operating DataCrawly ("DataCrawly", "we", "us", "our"). The Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy are part of these Terms by reference. Where you use the Services on behalf of a company, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that company, and "you" means the company.
2. Eligibility
The Services are intended for business use. You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, and you must not be barred from using the Services under any applicable law or sanctions regime.
3. The Services
Index. A searchable index of publicly accessible websites: technologies and their versions, hosting, DNS and CDN, site categories, and the company contact channels a business publishes on its own site. Every record carries the date it was observed.
Site profiles and account. Public pages show a limited profile of a domain or a technology. An account unlocks full site profiles, watch lists and exports according to your plan.
Credits. Paid features are metered in credits. One balance covers everything: subscription credits, purchased credit packs, Collect streams and API calls. What each action costs is shown in the product before it is charged.
Collect. A stream is a standing instruction to crawl for websites that match your criteria and deliver them to you as they are found, with their technology profile and the company contact channels the business itself publishes.
API and MCP. A programmatic interface to the same index, also available to AI agents through an MCP server, authenticated with keys issued in your account and metered from the same credit balance.
Browser extension. Technology Inspector shows the technologies of the page you are on. What it observes is used only for the features you use and is not added to the index (Section 10).
Site check. A passive check of a website you own, available after you verify ownership of its domain (Section 8).
4. Accounts
Accurate information. You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information when you register and to keep it up to date.
Security. You are responsible for keeping your password and API keys confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Keys and accounts are personal to you or your company and may not be shared with or resold to third parties.
Notice. Tell us immediately at the address below if you believe your account or a key has been used without your permission.
5. Plans, Credits and Payments
Prepaid. All fees are payable in advance. Subscription plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly, until cancelled. Credit packs are one-time purchases.
Credits. Credits included in a subscription are issued at the start of each period and expire at the end of it unless the product states otherwise. Purchased credit packs are valid for 12 months from purchase; credits left in a pack after that expire. Credits are a prepaid allowance to use the Services, not money or stored value: they have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn or exchanged, are not transferable and are spent in the order the product describes.
Concurrency. Your plan sets how many crawlers may work for you at the same time and any daily limits on streams. We may adjust technical limits to protect the Services and the sites we index.
Prices and taxes. Prices are shown before you pay. VAT or other taxes are added at checkout where the law requires. We may change prices for future periods with notice; the change applies from your next renewal.
Cancellation. You may cancel a subscription at any time in your account. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access and remaining subscription credits continue until the end of the period already paid for.
Refunds. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy at datacrawly.io/refund.
Merchant of Record. Our order process is conducted by our authorised online reseller, which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders and is named at checkout and on your receipt. The reseller provides customer service for orders and handles returns.
Payment processing. Payments are handled by our authorised reseller and the payment providers it uses, or by another third-party payment processor where the checkout says so. We do not store full card numbers.
6. Licence to the Data
Grant. Subject to these Terms and payment of the applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access the index through the Services and to use the data you retrieve for your own internal business purposes, including market research, monitoring of your own or your clients' websites, and contacting businesses in compliance with the laws that apply to you.
Restrictions. You may not resell, sublicense, publish, rent or otherwise redistribute the data or any substantial part of it; build, train or enrich a competing database, product or model with it; remove attributions or notices; or use it to compile profiles of private individuals.
Exports. Files you export during your subscription remain available to you for the internal purposes above after it ends. The licence to access the Services ends with your account.
Our rights. The index, its structure, the selection and arrangement of records, the catalogue of technologies and every part of the platform remain our property or that of our licensors. Facts about public websites are not owned by anyone; the compilation is ours.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Services, or any data obtained through them, to:
Break the law. Violate any applicable law, including data protection laws (such as the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules), anti-spam laws (such as CAN-SPAM and national equivalents), export controls and sanctions.
Send spam. Send unsolicited bulk messages, or messages that hide the sender, without the consents or legal basis those laws require. You are the sender of every message you send with data from the Services and an independent controller of the personal data you use; you are responsible for its legality, opt-outs and complaints.
Attack anyone. Probe, scan, attack or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any host, or extort, threaten or harass its owner.
Target individuals. Locate, track, profile or contact private individuals, or make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on a person, based on the data.
Bypass website controls. Use the Services or their data to get around robots.txt rules, logins, paywalls, CAPTCHAs or blocks that a website sets.
Resell or compete. Resell or redistribute the data, or use it to build, train or enrich a competing database, product or model.
Scrape or overload us. Access the Services by any automated means other than the documented API, circumvent credits, rate limits, paywalls or gates, or interfere with the operation of the Services.
Share access. Share, lend or sell your account, API keys or exports to third parties, or act as a proxy for their use of the Services.
Misrepresent. Claim that we endorse you, your business or your messages, or present our data or a site check as an audit, a certification or a guarantee.
8. Site Check
Verified owners only. Site check shows its findings only for domains whose ownership you have verified, by a DNS TXT record, by a file placed on the website, or by a confirmation email to a role address on the domain (such as webmaster@ or admin@). Until a domain is verified we show at most a summary, without details. The details are visible only to the account that verified the domain.
Passive. The check reads only what the website already serves to any visitor, its public HTML and response headers, and compares the software versions it detects with publicly known issues for those versions. We send no test requests, do not log in and do not try to access anything that is not public.
Not an audit. A site check is not a security audit, a penetration test or a certification, and we do not guarantee that it is complete or correct. Versions can be back-ported, patched or hidden, and a clean result does not mean the website is safe. Please verify before you act.
Your websites only. You may verify only domains you own or are authorised to manage. We may revoke a verification that turns out to be wrong, and the results go with it.
9. Data Accuracy and Disclaimers
As observed. Every record reflects what was publicly visible at the date and time of observation. Websites change; a record may be incomplete, outdated or wrong. Counts and market shares are estimates based on the part of the web we have crawled.
No warranty. The Services and the data are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free.
No results. We do not guarantee any commercial outcome, ranking or security improvement from your use of the Services.
10. Browser Extension
The extension works locally by default and shows what it detects on the page you are viewing. Its optional background collector sends the website domain, the page path, detected technology identifiers, the visit time and a random installation identifier to us; it sends no page content, query strings, cookies, contacts or incognito visits.
Extension observations are used only to provide and improve the extension features you use. They are not added to the DataCrawly index, not sold, not shared with other customers and not used for any other purpose, in line with the Limited Use requirements of the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy. You can pause the collector, export or delete its data at any time from the extension settings.
11. API
Keys. API keys are issued in your account and are confidential. Requests are metered in credits and subject to the rate limits shown in the documentation.
Changes. We may add, change or retire endpoints. Breaking changes are announced in advance where reasonably possible.
Agents. The same rules apply when the API is accessed by an AI agent or automation acting for you.
12. Third-Party Websites
We index websites we do not own or control. A profile, a report or a listing is not an endorsement of a site or its owner, nor a claim about it beyond the observation itself. Site owners can read how the crawler behaves, and how to limit or block it, at datacrawly.io/bot, and can ask us to remove a domain from the public site as described in the Privacy Policy.
13. Intellectual Property
Ours. The platform, the software, the technology catalogue, the design, the trademarks and all content we author belong to us or our licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers them to you.
Yours. You keep the rights to the criteria, lists and notes you create in your account. You grant us a licence to host and process them to provide the Services.
Feedback. Suggestions you send us are voluntary and we may use them without any obligation to you.
14. Confidentiality
DataCrawly does not sign individual non-disclosure agreements with every client or agency that uses the Services. We treat the information you share with us as confidential and disclose it only to the personnel and advisers who need it in order to provide the Services, or where we are required to do so by law.
15. Emails
By creating an account you agree to receive emails from DataCrawly: account notifications, service updates, announcements of new features and educational content. Every non-transactional email includes an unsubscribe link.
16. Privacy
Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy at datacrawly.io/privacy, which describes what we collect about you, and what we collect about websites and the businesses behind them.
17. Limitation of Liability
Exclusion. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with the Services, even if advised of the possibility.
Cap. Our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Mandatory law. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
18. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless DataCrawly, its affiliates, officers, employees and agents from any claims, damages, losses, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your messages or other use of the data, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
19. Termination
By you. You may close your account at any time. Fees already paid are not refunded except as set out in the Refund Policy.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, for a breach of these Terms, for use that harms the Services, the sites we index or other users, or where the law requires. In case of a breach, unused credits are forfeited.
Effect. On termination the licence in Section 6 ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (licence restrictions, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, disputes) survive.
20. Changes
To the Services. We may modify or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce what a paid plan includes.
To these Terms. We may update these Terms. The current version is always at datacrawly.io/terms with its date. Material changes are announced by email or in the product before they take effect; continued use after that date is acceptance.
21. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Portugal have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Services. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections and the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence that the law gives you. Before going to court, please write to us; most issues are resolved within a few days.
22. General
Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Services and replace any prior agreement.
Severability. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it is struck and the rest remains in force.
Waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to an affiliate or a successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
Force majeure. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including network failures, attacks, outages of third-party providers, natural disasters, war or government action.
Electronic communications. You agree that notices we send electronically satisfy any requirement that a communication be in writing.
Headings. Section titles are for convenience only and have no legal effect.
